Council member Jones replied that the most recent Zoning Ordinance amendment was written specifically to avoid routing all commercial and industrial projects through the Planning Commission. Jones said some earlier delays had been caused by Village administration rather than the Planning Commission and called for clearer internal procedures to prevent future hold-ups.
Village Manager Faulkner and other staff acknowledged there have been prior complaints about permit turnaround times. Council directed further discussion and follow-up with staff to clarify which project types require Planning Commission review and to identify administrative steps that can be streamlined.
The exchange did not result in a motion or formal change to the ordinance; council members agreed to return the matter for a future agenda with additional information from staff.
