Community Emergency Services Committee approves contracts, grants and donations

Mr. Granado described the FY27 Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) accountability-court grant as an award of $301,226, with required matching funds budgeted at $53,157 for a total program amount of $354,383; staff recommended acceptance and the committee approved the grant.
A Community Services representative reported donations to Animal Services totaling $1,385 from named donors, and the committee approved accepting those gifts. The same representative also presented a $375 donation to the Senior Center from Robert Schenkel and a service agreement with the Columbia County Ballet to stage a free "Ballet in the Park" event on Sept. 26, 2026. The ballet agreement includes a $1,200 grant from the Arts Development Fund; Recreation Advisory Board approval of the fund use was noted.
A Fire & Emergency Services representative reported annual boot-drive proceeds of $58,247.11 and said the funds would be split evenly between the Burn Foundation and Community Connections. The representative said the total was "still very impressive" despite lower collection days due to rain. The committee agreed to move the distribution to consent and set up a presentation; the action was approved.
Fire & Emergency Services also offered response summaries and a year-to-date budget report; no commissioners asked questions. There were no public comments and no executive session. The chair then moved to adjourn.
