Mike Henault announced his resignation from the Hoosac Valley Regional School Committee at the Dec. 9 meeting and said he will remain on the committee until a replacement is appointed.
Henault told colleagues he hopes the board will continue to pursue shared services, consider changes to the district grade structure, pursue a rolling-average approach in the regional agreement and "represent every child that is in our district without a voice," which he said has been his mission. Chairman Adam Emerson said the committee will post the vacancy and appoint someone to serve through the end of May, when the seat will appear on the ballot; Henaults term was up this May.
Several members praised Henaults service. Bob Tetlow and Fred Lora thanked him for his contributions; Lora said he will follow up with General Dynamics about partnership opportunities. Henault said he valued the committees civil, respectful debate and urged that kids remain the priority.
