Board forms interview committee for applicants; volunteer offers to digitize historic cassettes

The Yellowstone Gateway Museum Board moved to create a three-person interview committee to review three applications for two open board seats, the board said on June 23.
The chair proposed a committee composed of two board members and a staff member to interview applicants and return a recommendation to the county commissioners, who retain appointment authority. Several members volunteered to serve; details about the selection of particular interviewers and scheduled interview dates were left for staff outreach to applicants.
During member comments, a new board member described prior volunteer work digitizing about half of a collection of cassette recordings donated by Warren McGee that document local history — Bozeman Trail stories and railroad histories among them — and offered to continue digitization if the museum can provide equipment or access to the tapes. Jacob, the director, said he would search the museum’s collections and the photo room where tapes are shelved, and welcomed assistance from the volunteer.
A friends/foundation representative also updated the board: the Yellowstone Gateway Museum Foundation recently voted to add Sandy Marler to its board and praised intern Ripley Cunningham for consolidating financial records and producing clearer budgets. The board received the updates and set its next regular meeting for July 28.
No public comments were offered, and the meeting adjourned after a motion to close.
