The Marlborough Public Schools School Committee on March 24 approved a series of routine motions and grants, including travel for a student to the Business Professionals of America national conference, scholarship and grant acceptances, and a public hearing date for the district's FY27 budget.
The committee voted to suspend the rules to move the Business Professionals of America (BPA) National Leadership Conference item forward so students could be recognized. The committee then unanimously approved travel for Marlborough High student Joe Sullivan to attend the BPA national conference in Nashville May 6–9 after he placed in the top three in the state for fundamental accounting.
The committee also approved a $1,500 Carol Driscoll Memorial Scholarship donation and voted to accept a $31,000 FY26 grant to support multi‑tiered literacy improvements across grades 6–12. School business manager Muhammad presented the FY27 level-service draft and the committee set a public hearing on the proposed FY27 budget for April 14; the committee will conduct final review and certification after that hearing.
Other procedural business carried by voice vote included acceptance of minutes from previous meetings and routine committee reports. The superintendent and staff provided several informational updates on testing schedules, curriculum grants and building projects but those items were presented for discussion rather than committee action.
