The board voted to adopt updates to the 2024'25 faculty manual at the July 23 meeting. Changes noted in the packet included calendar and page-number updates, a refreshed school logo, and the addition of a "vision of the graduate" statement. Trustees also added language addressing student use of artificial intelligence to the manual; the manual does not yet include a policy restricting faculty use of AI for grading or other staff functions, and trustees asked staff to better understand current faculty practices before considering formal faculty-use rules.
As part of consent business, trustees approved the disposal or resale of a long inventory of surplus equipment from multiple departments (animal science, collision repair, physical education, horticulture and grounds). The list was read into the record and approved by voice vote.
Trustees also approved payment of FY24 invoices to ensure timely vendor payments. Separately, trustees tabled updated facility-use rates (for outside groups using the gym and other spaces) and asked staff to bring that item back in September after further review of fee structures and current users.
Board members emphasized the safety rationale for a clarified staff attendance email practice (staff should email both when leaving campus and when returning), and suggested staff follow up with a short report on current AI use among faculty and whether a formal policy on faculty AI use is needed.
