MSBA awards grant for Bromfield School heat pump and roof upgrade; district awaits next steps

The Massachusetts School Building Authority has awarded Harvard Public Schools a grant for a heat pump and roof upgrade at Bromfield School, Superintendent Dr. Linda Dwight told the School Committee on Nov. 10.
Dr. Dwight said the district submitted all required documentation, including the certified Town Meeting vote, after the grant award on Oct. 29. The district now awaits MSBA assignment of an Owner’s Project Manager and selection of an engineering firm from the MSBA-approved list to begin design and project planning.
The committee was not provided a dollar figure in the meeting minutes; Dr. Dwight limited the update to the grant award date, documentation status and next administrative steps. The award moves the project into the MSBA process, which typically includes OPM assignment, schematic design, and subsequent town approvals and funding steps before construction.
Committee members did not take further action in open session on funding or contracts for the project; the district will return with updates as the MSBA assigns consultants and the project advances through the MSBA schedule.
