Easton EMS building nears completion; Certificate of Occupancy targeted Feb. 28

The Easton EMS Building Committee on Jan. 29 was told the new Easton EMS building is in its final phase of construction, with interior finishes and painting underway and furniture delivery scheduled for the end of February. Deborah Szegedi, the town clerk who recorded the meeting, said the committee has set a target date of Feb. 28 for a Certificate of Occupancy and anticipates moving in by mid‑March.

Committee members were told that exterior work has been delayed by snow and that the contractor will temporarily connect the building to the existing septic system until exterior work can be completed. No major construction issues were reported at the meeting.

Project timing remains contingent on exterior work resuming after winter weather and on delivery schedules for remaining items. The committee also noted that certain finishes — including window treatments — are not included in the Bismark Construction contract and will be addressed separately.

The meeting record says substantial completion is anticipated by the end of February and staff will share an updated cost breakdown with the committee. The committee did not report any new obstacles at the Jan. 29 session; the next steps are completing interior punchlist items, verifying systems after the contractor’s temporary septic connection, and preparing for the planned move-in in mid‑March.
