The Pella City Council approved a slate of routine but consequential items including construction contracts, fee changes and permitting resolutions.
On infrastructure, the council approved Resolution 7065 (plan/specifications/estimate) and Resolution 7066, awarding the west generating plant control upgrade contract to the low responsible bidder for $398,200 after staff presented two bids and recommended accepting the low bid. The council also approved Resolution 7067 (plan/specifications/estimate) and Resolution 7068 awarding the airport water-main expansion contract to the low responsible bidder, with the engineer's estimate and low-bid figures discussed during the hearing.
Other approvals included a temporary public-ways closure for the Vermeier customer conference (Resolution 7069) and a closure for the "Pray for America Pella" event (Resolution 7070). The council approved a 12-month Special Class C retail liquor license application from Central College (effective July 1) under Resolution 7071 and adopted new ambulance service fees (Resolution 7072) intended to align rates with Blue Cross Blue Shield reimbursement schedules; staff said the city is an in-network provider and noted a $150 surcharge for non-residents.
On financing, the council authorized bond-administration steps tied to a previously approved $5,620,000 general-obligation capital loan note (Resolution 7073) and set a June 2 public hearing date for a proposed conveyance of rail-adjacent property to Lighthouse LLC (Resolution 7074). The meeting record includes an approved abstract of bills (No. 2199).
Council votes were recorded by roll call for each resolution; staff presentations accompanying the votes included cost figures, engineer recommendations and brief public-hearing periods before each motion.
What's next: Listed resolutions were approved and will move to contract execution, licensing follow-up and scheduled hearings noted in the council record.
