Administrators cautioned that growth (meeting an individualized growth target) is distinct from achievement (nationally normed percentile ranks). The district will shift emphasis toward achievement goals after this year but will continue to track growth. The presenter said principals shared school‑level data in an internal leadership forum to surface effective practices, and next steps include school‑level action plans, subgroup analysis for ELL and special education students, and student–teacher conferences to set individual targets.
Committee members asked how NWEA percentiles translate to Massachusetts MCAS expectations; administrators said the district will present correlation charts and subgroup analyses at a future meeting to show likely MCAS trajectories.
The committee did not take formal action on assessment items; administrators said they will return with spring comparison slides and subgroup crosswalks.
