Broken Bow City Council approves consent agenda, liquor-license changes and schedules budget workshop

The Broken Bow City Council on July 27 approved its consent agenda, accepted liquor-license changes for two businesses and set a budget workshop date. Mayor Rod Sonnichsen presided; Councilmembers David Schmidt and Larry Miller were present and voted on each motion. Councilmembers Jacob Holcomb and Chris Myers were recorded as absent.
The council approved the consent agenda — which included the July 13 meeting minutes, bills to date and the June Treasurer’s Report — on a motion by Councilmember Larry Miller, seconded by Councilmember David Schmidt. The bill list presented in the meeting minutes totaled $125,998.92 and included payroll of $61,017.04 and line items such as City of Broken Bow health insurance ($20,554.86), library materials ($2,326.42) and various repairs and services. The motion passed on a roll call vote with Schmidt and Miller voting aye.
The council then approved a New Corporate Manager application to the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission for Krystal M. Carter at Casey’s General Store #1845. Councilmember David Schmidt moved the approval, Councilmember Larry Miller seconded, and both voted aye.
Separately, the council approved an application to amend Sylvester’s Bar & Lounge’s liquor license to include the bowling alley area. That motion was made by Larry Miller, seconded by David Schmidt, and carried with both members voting yes.
Councilmember David Schmidt moved, and Councilmember Larry Miller seconded, to set Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2021, at noon as the date and time for the Budget Workshop; the motion passed with Schmidt and Miller voting aye.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:05 p.m. on a motion by Larry Miller and seconded by David Schmidt. The minutes were attested as printed by Deputy Clerk Jerrice wer Owen in the meeting record.
The council did not record any extended discussion, public comment, or dissent on the motions recorded in the minutes. Absent councilmembers were excused at the start of the meeting.
