City Administrator Dan Knoell told the council that participation on the Planning Commission, Park Board and Board of Adjustment has fallen ‘‘drastically,’’ making it difficult to reach quorums and delaying agenda business. He said the only requirement for appointment is Broken Bow residency and encouraged residents to apply.
Mayor Sonnichsen reiterated the appeal, saying participation is an opportunity for residents to step up and serve the community. The council approved the Minutes of the April 13, 2021 meeting and the bills to date as part of the motion.
The council also voted to reappoint Cecil Burt III, Nicolle Bailey and Jim Girardin Jr. to the Planning Commission for three-year terms ending February 2024. The reappointment motion passed on a roll-call vote with Myers, Schmidt, Miller and Holcomb voting aye; no nays were recorded.
The minutes list a detailed bills ledger that includes routine utilities, supplies and contractual services and shows a combined total of $109,203.80. The ledger is recorded in the meeting minutes as provided to the council.
