Chair outlines July agenda items, appointments and Moda Center schedule

Chair Kanal opened the meeting with an agenda update and a calendar of upcoming items for the Committee of the Whole.
He told colleagues that July 9 is currently scheduled for a discussion about Home Forward; appointments to that board have not yet been filed by the mayor’s office. "July 23rd will include appointments to the Portland Utility Board, Vision Zero and appointments to the Prosper Portland board of directors," Kanal said. He also said the council expects a work session followed by a July 30 public‑testimony meeting and potential August 6 referral on the Moda Center term sheet.
The chair asked for volunteers to join small work groups to help develop options for the council leadership election process and to help plan the run‑of‑show for the Fire and Police Disability and Retirement discussion; several councilors volunteered. The chair also said a number of tentative items are on the committee’s calendar across governance, finance, oversight and emergency response issue areas.
The briefing was procedural and preparatory; no formal actions or appointments were taken at the committee meeting.
