State reports 96 TRI submittals so far; public TRI map temporarily offline

Kelsey Newling, Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources, briefed the Chemical Emergency Response Commission on TRI submittals and public-mapping availability.
Newling said the TRI reporting deadline is the following day and the department had received 96 facility reports so far, noting a typical annual total of about 100–115. "We have received reports from 96 facilities so far," she said, adding that officials expect the remainder within hours of the deadline.
She told commissioners the public online map for TRI facilities is currently not functioning because of mapping and database updates, but that the EPA’s website and the department’s public viewer (once the updates are complete) allow the public to see facility locations; she cautioned that the public viewer does not display quantities or threshold amounts. In response to a question about finding TRI facilities by jurisdiction, Newling said the EPA’s site provides access and the department’s tanks-and-spills public database will be restored after the mapping updates.
The commission had no further questions on TRI and moved on after the update. The department asked stakeholders to consult EPA resources or contact the department directly for specific facility information while the internal map is being updated.
