CERC re-elects Tina Tootsie as chair, names Whitney Louthanmeyer vice chair; several rosters approved

Tina Tootsie will remain chair of the South Dakota Chemical Emergency Response Commission after a unanimous nomination and vote at the commission’s meeting on June 30. Dustin Willett moved to nominate Tootsie and the motion was seconded; the commission cast a unanimous ballot and the motion carried.
The commission also confirmed Whitney Louthanmeyer as vice chair after a nomination and second. ‘‘Thank you for stepping up in that role,’’ the chair said after the vote. The leadership terms were set for two years.
On routine business, the commission approved the March 31 meeting minutes after a minor spelling correction. Doug Hinkle moved to approve the minutes as amended and Justin Miller seconded; the motion passed by voice vote.
Kelsey Newling presented several Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) rosters for approval. The commission voted to approve rosters received for the three counties presented and to appoint a roster for Bonhomme County following the disbanding of its prior LEPC. Motions to approve and appoint were made, seconded and carried by voice vote.
The meeting adjourned after the business items concluded; the chair closed the session and wished members a safe July 4.
