The Newport Board of Commissioners voted unanimously June 23 to adopt two budget measures: an amendment to the FY2025–26 general fund budget (Commissioners Ordinance No. 5, amending O-2025-09) and the city budget for fiscal year July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027 (Commissioners Ordinance No. 6).
Brian Steffen, speaking for finance staff, told the commission that there "have been no changes to the amended budget or the proposed budget since the first read." Staff members Lenny Kanzin and Matt Ship were present for questions; no members of the public spoke on the items. After discussion, the board took roll-call votes approving both ordinances.
Commission records in the meeting show each ordinance was approved on its second reading by unanimous vote of the five commissioners present.
The measures set the city’s revenue estimates and appropriations for the stated fiscal years; the meeting transcript does not include detailed line-item numbers or changes from the first reading. For specifics about revenues, appropriations or amendments, the city’s finance office was identified in the meeting as the contact point.
