Abigail Besse elected chair as Harvard School Committee reorganizes leadership

At its July 7 meeting the Harvard School Committee unanimously elected Abigail Besse chair, Liz Joyce vice-chair and Brian Killeen clerk as members completed routine reorganization before the summer break.
The Harvard School Committee unanimously elected Abigail Besse as chair at its virtual meeting on July 7, 2025. Dr. Linda Dwight called the meeting to order and opened nominations; Ms. Amy Morton nominated Ms. Besse and Ms. Liz Joyce seconded the nomination. The committee approved the choice by roll call.
After taking the chair, Ms. Besse opened nominations for vice-chair. Ms. Besse nominated Ms. Joyce and Mr. Brian Killeen seconded; Ms. Joyce was approved unanimously. Mr. Killeen volunteered to serve as clerk and was nominated by Ms. Morton and seconded by Ms. Joyce; the committee approved him unanimously.
The reorganizational votes conclude the committee's formal officer appointments for the coming year and allow members to proceed with planning for the new school year. The committee then moved into a set of presentations and routine business including budget and facilities updates.
The committee noted the next procedural activity will be a strategic planning meeting scheduled for July 9 in Superintendent Dr. Linda Dwight's office.
