The Brookline Selectboard voted unanimously July 29 to close Town Hall on Fridays except for scheduled appointments through Aug. 30.
Town Administrator Paul Branscombe told the board that the town closed Town Hall the prior Friday and that the temporary closure “increased staff productivity,” prompting the change. Brian Rater moved to close Town Hall on Fridays, and Ed Perry seconded. Selectboard member Brendan Denehy amended the motion to make the change effective through Aug. 30, after which the board will reassess; the amended motion passed 5–0.
The board did not specify additional details on appointment scheduling or customer-facing hours beyond the amendment. The board recorded no public comment opposing the temporary schedule change during the meeting. The closure takes effect immediately for the trial period; the board will revisit the schedule at or after the Aug. 30 review.
