Short delay in criminal background check results; Department says issue resolved

Paula Bell, who provided credentialing updates, reported an unexpected State Police systems update caused delays in the transmission of criminal background check (CBC) results for applicants fingerprinted during the third week of May. Bell said the delay was in the transmission from State Police and was not caused by fingerprinting appointments or applicant submissions.
"The system is up and running properly again," Bell said, and the LDOE team has worked through the outstanding CBCs produced during that week. Systems were asked to contact the teacher certification help portal or email educatorclearance@la.gov if they do not see an expected clear credential for an applicant fingerprinted during that timeframe.
No formal sanctions or broader policy changes were announced; the department characterized this as a temporary operational issue that has been remediated.
