Fire department reports new records system, inspections and roof damage from turkey buzzards

Deputy Chief Charlie Greeney told commissioners on Feb. 18 that the department has introduced new records programs that will require time to transition and that older report versions will be retained during the changeover. Greeney said the January 2026 activity reports were distributed; call and mutual aid entries reflect modifications from the new reporting system while the department’s financial figures remain the same.
Greeney said vehicle inspections are underway and that the department is in the process of ordering and installing new equipment. He also noted an ongoing problem with turkey buzzards damaging the Fire House roof; additional renovations and repairs are planned to address the issue.
Fire Marshal Dick Leighton distributed the Fire Marshal’s January activity report, answered members’ questions about occupancy and terms of use for certain properties, and indicated that Knox Boxes on properties will be inventoried with property owners advised of installation details.
No formal votes were taken on operational items at the meeting.
