Selectmen report highlights Vision Zero, 3 Bridges project, Sustainable CT recertification and website migration

First Selectman Legnar reported to the Chester Board of Fire Commissioners on Feb. 18 that several townwide initiatives are underway, including a Vision Zero effort to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists, preparation for the 3 Bridges Project scheduled for 2027, and work on a Sustainable CT Silver recertification application due in August.
Legnar said the town is coordinating with multiple departments and partners. She noted a Feb. 11 meeting of the Chester Vision Zero working group and said the town will seek an Active Transportation Microgrant through RiverCOG to fund Vision Zero materials and activities. Legnar also reported discussions with RiverCOG on other regional efforts such as a Regional Waste Authority study and a regional natural hazard mitigation plan update.
Legnar said the town is preparing to transition its current website platform to CivicPlus and is finalizing the Board of Selectmen’s annual report for FY 2024–2025. She also said Public Works may take over maintenance of the Fire House grounds to consolidate grounds work for budget purposes and that the Chester 250 working group is planning a June 28 townwide picnic.
