Fire commissioners approve Chester Hose Company budgets and forward them to selectmen and finance

The Chester Board of Fire Commissioners voted on Feb. 18 to move the Chester Hose Company’s operating and capital budgets to the next stages of town review. The operating budget prepared by Chief Ben Belisle was approved on a motion by Charlene Janecek, seconded by Rick Schreiber, and will be forwarded to the Board of Selectmen and the Board of Finance for action and transmission to a Town Meeting.
The capital budget, also prepared by Chief Belisle, was moved by Janecek and seconded by Schreiber and was unanimously approved by the commissioners for the same referral path. Minutes of the meeting state that totals for both the operating and capital expenditures remained unchanged from the proposed versions; the minutes do not list dollar amounts.
Commissioners also approved the minutes of the Jan. 21, 2026 meeting on a motion by Janecek, seconded by Schreiber. The meeting was adjourned on a motion by Bob Quale, seconded by Rick Schreiber, at 8:21 P.M.
All three formal motions were recorded in the minutes as carried; explicit vote tallies are provided for the capital budget and minutes (unanimous) but the operating-budget vote tally is not specified in the minutes.
