Stockbridge Planning Commission sets Jan. 23 town hall on zoning update, tasks vice chair with six-year capital plan

Commissioner Jennifer Conant seconded the motion, and a voice vote was recorded as all in favor.
Why it matters: the town hall is the next step in a multi-stage zoning update process that will seek public input before the Planning Commission considers formal ordinance language and any recommended changes to the Village Council.
The commission also agreed to begin work on a six‑year capital outlay plan. Vice Chair Laura Loomis accepted Chair Anderson’s request to lead the effort; she and Village President Jil Ogden will draft an outline of steps and present it at the Planning Commission’s Jan. 9, 2025 meeting.
On potential land‑use filings, Chair Anderson told the commission that Cross Road Church is expected to submit a text amendment application and a special‑use application to allow a daycare at the church site. Anderson said that if a completed application, with required fees, is submitted to the zoning administrator and forwarded to the Planning Commission chair by the following week, the item could be placed on the Jan. 9, 2025 agenda.
Commissioner James Johnson said he wants the commission to work on addressing blight in the village. Village President Jil Ogden agreed to provide the zoning administrator’s monthly report for inclusion in future Planning Commission packets. Commissioner Jennifer Conant said she wants to complete projects already underway; Vice Chair Loomis had no additional items.
There were no public comments recorded at the meeting. The commission approved the agenda and the minutes from Nov. 7, 2024, by voice votes. Commissioner James Johnson moved to adjourn at about 7:50 p.m.; Commissioner Laura Loomis seconded and the motion carried. The Planning Commission’s next meeting is Jan. 9, 2025.
