Energy Efficiency Sustainability Committee approves Jan. 10 minutes, discusses $9,000 budget for 2026–27

The Energy Efficiency Sustainability Committee approved the minutes from its Jan. 10 meeting and discussed its proposed 2026–27 budget at a meeting on Feb. 4.
Tony Dater, chair, moved to approve the Jan. 10 minutes; Tom Schenck, vice chair, seconded the motion and the committee gave unanimous approval. Chris Osterreider, staff liaison, told members the town budget lists $6,000 for the committee and that, with carryover from the 2025–2026 balance, the committee should have about $9,000 available on July 1, 2026 to fund the composting pilot and other projects. Osterreider added that money earmarked for a specific project should be used for that project and said he did not expect prolonged debate at the town level but that the committee could register concern if the appropriation were not approved.
Committee members pressed a few logistical questions. Leah Ingram asked for clarification of how project funds are allocated; Wayne Berry asked whether the COS Building needs food-storage capacity for the composting pilot, and Osterreider said he would follow up to determine whether additional storage is needed. The committee did not take further formal action on the budget during the meeting.
The committee's next steps are staff follow-up on COS storage needs and awaiting final town approval of the appropriation.
