The Otis Selectboard voted on Feb. 11 to hold a special town meeting on Tuesday, March 25 at 7:00 p.m. to consider proposed amendments to the regional agreement.
The move followed guidance from DESE recommending a special town meeting, Selectboard Chair Gary Thomas said during the meeting. Board members discussed timing and outreach, with Selectboard member Jim Crandall voicing concern that some voters spending winters away might not be present for a March meeting.
Staff member Brandi Page said she would draft the warrant and check availability of the moderator and town counsel. The board also released a prepared statement on the amendments; Selectboard member Larry Southard read the statement aloud at the meeting. Stacey Schultze outlined the assessment methodology the School Committee intends to use, noting the decision to use CEY (cost-effective year or similarly abbreviated metric) as the basis for the assessment method.
The School Committee has scheduled an additional information session on the proposed amendments, the board noted. No formal vote on the amendments occurred at the Selectboard meeting; the March 25 special town meeting is the next procedural step for voters to consider the changes.
