Stan provided a brief operational update on reentry services: since January the Elmore Correctional Facility pilot has issued 111 driver credentials to people preparing for release, and the program will add five additional facilities to the pilot list (Tutwiler, Kilby, Limestone, Fountain and Bibb) as sites come online.
He described logistics the agencies have coordinated, including a transportation schedule that moves people from Staton to a credentialing site once a week and a plan to prioritize facilities based on release flows (Kilby handles many releases from the Alabama Therapeutic Educational Facility). Stan said the agencies view the work as going "beyond the letter of the law" to embrace the spirit of providing needed reentry services even where not strictly statutorily required.
No formal action was taken; the update was provided for information and operational planning. Members thanked Stan and staff for the pilot work and readiness to expand as facility capacity and system integrations permit.
