Select Board approves 61-foot private pier at 202 Edgewater Drive East

The Falmouth Select Board on Feb. 9 approved an application by Michael and Marne Farrell to build a 61-foot fixed timber pier on Eel Pond at 202 Edgewater Drive East.
Falmouth Engineering representative Mike Borcelli told the board the pile-supported pier would be 4 feet wide with 10-inch timber pilings spaced roughly 16–17 feet on center, terminating over a minimum of three feet of water at mean low water. The design includes a public-access under-clearance section and maintains the required separation above adjacent salt marsh.
Borcelli said a shellfish survey found densities below permit thresholds and the harbor master raised no navigation concerns. He calculated the pier would cross about 18% of the pond’s width at the site, below the Army Corps guideline of 25%.
After closing the public hearing with no public objections, the Select Board moved and approved the permit as presented.
