Fortuna City introduces new Community Development Director and seeks volunteers for general plan advisory group

Planning staff reintroduced Brendan Bird on June 23 as Fortuna City's new Community Development Director and City Engineer and asked the public to help recruit members for a Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to guide a multi-year general plan update.
Katie told the commission she was "very happy to have him here" and that Bird will serve as the Community Development Department lead while revisiting his City Engineer title. Staff said the TAG will ideally include community members not currently serving on city council or commissions and will seek expertise in planning, engineering, housing, government services, education and related fields; everything the TAG develops will return to the Planning Commission and City Council for review.
Staff also said there is a high potential the next Planning Commission meeting will be canceled because several projects have not submitted required corrections for noticing. Katie encouraged commissioners and the public to recruit residents for the advisory group and noted more recruitment communications will be sent.
Next steps: staff will continue outreach to populate the TAG and will notify commissioners and the public about any cancellation or scheduling changes for the next meeting.
