NECCOG director’s report highlights NDDH programs, animal-control outcome and transit needs

Luigi Sartori presented NDDH items including a partnership with United Services for a vape take-back event at Killingly Public Library and the designation of NDDH as a car-seat-check location where residents can schedule appointments. NECCOG said it is conducting a mass-casualty drill with "Until Help Arrives" training for Medical Reserve Corps volunteers and distributing helmets and safety vests through a CT DOT Active Transportation Grant.
On animal control, the director reported that a second Woodstock case concluded in NECCOG’s favor and that approximately 20 animals are being placed in better homes. Norwich was notified of a facility-fee increase for next year but intends to remain with the service through FY26; an early exit option was offered.
The transit district requested capital funding for a scheduling and route-management platform and reported that Jacobs, a state contractor, toured the facility in April to assess renovation needs; one bus requires an engine replacement but staff are delaying action because spare parts are available. NECCOG also reported that Mary Calorio joined in mid-May as Regional Town Administrator and that a regional human-resources position is planned for FY26 pending town budget approval.
The minutes record these operational updates but provide limited fiscal details and no procurement schedules for capital requests.
