NECCOG announced steps to advance pedestrian- and bicycle-safety planning at its May 23 meeting.
Staff said a first task-force meeting for Safe Streets for ALL would be held in May or June to review crash analysis results and plan public engagement; a public survey will be open over the summer and fall to collect community input on areas of concern. Consultants working on the State Active Transportation Plan completed field tours in Voluntown, Killingly, Putnam, Pomfret and Thompson; SS4A consultants participated in some visits.
The minutes note distribution of helmets and safety vests through a CT DOT Active Transportation Grant administered by NECCOG and ongoing outreach efforts. No survey link, task-force membership list or firm implementation timeline was included in the minutes.
