Good Hope council unanimously authorizes AECOM traffic study, adopts hemp product ordinance

Good Hope, Jan. 26, 2026 — The Good Hope City Council unanimously approved a resolution authorizing Mayor Jerry Bartlett to enter an agreement with engineering firm AECOM to conduct a traffic study, and adopted an ordinance regulating consumable hemp products to comply with ABC requirements.
At the start of the meeting Mayor Jerry Bartlett called the session to order at 6:30 p.m. and the council recorded roll call. Council Member Taft Dillashaw moved to approve Resolution No. 010-2026, which authorizes the mayor to enter into an agreement with AECOM for a traffic study; Dillashaw said the agreement is contingent on an agreement from CCBOE. Greg Brown seconded the motion and the council voted unanimously in favor.
The council then considered Ordinance No. 003-2026 concerning consumable hemp products. Mayor Bartlett moved to approve the ordinance as written but directed the City Attorney, Rita Nicholas, to amend the wording to ensure alignment with ABC requirements. Greg Brown seconded the motion; the council voted unanimous yea and adopted the ordinance.
Earlier in the meeting the council approved the Jan. 12, 2026 minutes on a motion by Taft Dillashaw, seconded by Greg Brown, by unanimous vote. Greg Brown moved to adjourn at 7:15 p.m.; Taft Dillashaw seconded and the council adjourned following a unanimous yea vote.
Next steps: Mayor Bartlett may execute the AECOM agreement once the contingency noted in the resolution (CCBOE agreement) is satisfied, and City Attorney Rita Nicholas will finalize ordinance verbiage to meet ABC requirements.
