Council hears municipal aggregation saved Marlborough residents $335,085 in Q4 2025

Councilor Nevin reported to the Marlborough City Council that the municipal aggregation program produced $335,085 in savings for participating residents in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared with National Grid’s Basic Service Rate.
“As a reminder, our contract provides 100% renewable energy and looking ahead to the first quarter of 2026, the city rate is lower than the National Grid Basic Service Rate for winter and summer,” Nevin said, adding that since the program began in 2007 participants have saved “over $38 million.”
Nevin also cautioned that the program is monitoring some emerging costs: the city has encountered challenges with day-ahead ancillary charges levied by ISO New England and will continue to watch those charges and their effect on customer bills.
Council moved to accept and place the communication on file; the motion carried 10-0.
