Sylvania Township Trustees and board members on June 29 formally recognized Dr. Veronica Mley as she begins retirement. Oliver Turner, identified in the meeting as chair of the Sylvania Township Trustees and an administrator, presented Mley with a token of appreciation and praised her leadership, calling her "an exceptional leader, thoughtful, compassionate, and unwavering in your commitment to students, staff, and our community."
Turner said Mley led with integrity and listened with respect, and on behalf of the township he thanked her for years of dedicated service. "It is my privilege to present you this token of our appreciation and gratitude for your years of dedicated service," Turner said.
Dr. Mley responded that it had been a privilege to work with Sylvania Schools and with township partners, noted the district's community feel and referenced collaborative programs with the fire department, Rotary and Chamber. She said she plans to remain connected to district initiatives and to "pop up and see you" even after her official retirement.
Board members and township officials expressed personal appreciation for Mley's partnership and commitment to students and staff. The board then proceeded to routine business; no formal personnel action related to the retirement was recorded in the transcript.
