Berkley Board of Health approves multiple septic plans and grants variances for 106 Seymour Street

The Town of Berkley Board of Health on June 24 approved a certificate of compliance and multiple septic plans and unanimously granted four variances for 106 Seymour Street.
At the start of the meeting, held at 7:00 p.m., the board recorded members present as James Romano, Chairman; Daniel Fournier, Clerk; and Patrick McCrohan, Member. Brandon Arruda, representing Bridgewater Raynham Sand & Stone, did not appear for his scheduled agenda item.
The board issued a Certificate of Compliance to Joe Malloch for 35 Ridge Street after reviewing the As‑Built plan, a sieve test, a filter receipt and a re‑test. The board stamped and signed the certificate and handed it to Mr. Malloch.
The board reviewed septic plans for 138 Bay View Avenue and noted consultant Nyles Zager's comments #1 and #7 had not been addressed at the May 27, 2025 meeting; the record indicates those comments were addressed before or during the June 24 meeting, after which the board approved, stamped and signed the plans.
Discussion of 32 Riverside Drive was tabled to the board's next meeting; no action was taken on that item.
Consultant Gerald Bernard reviewed the septic plans for 131 Padelford Street, which the board approved, stamped and signed.
On a motion by Daniel Fournier, Clerk, seconded by Patrick McCrohan, Member, the board granted four variances for 106 Seymour Street: (1) reduction of the separation between the septic tank inlets/outlets and the pump chamber to high groundwater from 12 inches, (2) reduction of the required separation between the proposed leaching field and high groundwater from 4 feet to 3 feet, (3) approval to use a sieve analysis, and (4) reduction of the required number of deep holes from two to one. The motion passed with all members voting in favor; the plans were approved, stamped and signed.
The board accepted minutes, correspondence and invoices, signed permits and concluded the meeting at 7:42 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for July 7, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.
