Fairview names new members to planning commission and parks board; one seat deferred

At the June 18 meeting the Fairview Board of Commissioners confirmed several board and commission appointments.

For the Municipal Planning Commission (Resolution 36-26) the board appointed Ethan Greer, Jeff Pap and Sam Calli after candidates introduced themselves. Commissioners made and recorded votes for each nominee; some board members abstained on specific nominations during the roll calls but the three citizens were appointed and will serve on the planning commission.

For the Parks & Landscape Board (Resolution 37-26) the board appointed Mark Albrittain and David Dodoro and reappointed Commissioner Hall as the commissioner representative. The board deferred filling the third citizen seat on the parks board to a future meeting (moved to July 23) to allow additional applicants to present. The board also deferred appointment to the Board of Zoning Appeals (no applicants at present) to allow time for outreach and additional applications.

Several applicants cited local volunteer work, prior planning experience and familiarity with the new zoning ordinance as reasons for serving; board members thanked applicants and encouraged further public participation in advisory boards and quasi-judicial panels.

Next steps: the newly appointed planning commissioners and parks board members will be sworn in according to the city’s customary process and begin participating in upcoming meetings and reviews of pending development and parks projects.
