The Scotia-Glenville Central School District Board of Education used its June 26 meeting to publicly honor staff and volunteers concluding long tenures with the district.
Superintendent and board remarks recognized Craig Young as the June Employee of the Month for his supervision at drop-off, pick-up and recess. The board then honored numerous retirees across instructional and noninstructional roles, including Pamela Beamis (teaching assistant, 36+ years), Danielle Bogie (middle-school science teacher, hired 1996), Jo (Jill) Bushman (executive secretary/athletics office), Dennis Cooper and Pete Zwack (buildings & grounds), Sharon Riggi (district registrar, 37 years), John Sawyer (physics teacher), Christine Sipperly Bolt (social studies), Pamela Lyle (school social worker), and others. The meeting record also includes planned retirements and well-wishes for colleagues.
Board members presented a formal proclamation recognizing Pamela S. Carbone for 30 years of elected service to the Scotia-Glenville Board of Education, listing leadership roles, regional association service, and examples of policy and program contributions (transitional kindergarten, full-day kindergarten, capital projects). Carbone addressed the board and thanked the community.
The board also recognized Michael Lape as the district's first student board member and celebrated outgoing school business manager Drew Giaquinto for 19 years of service, including his role in passing 19 school budgets and supporting district finance and safety efforts.
Remarks were celebratory and included applause and a reception planned after the meeting to honor retirees. No formal board decisions were required for retiree recognitions; the recognitions were ceremonial and informational.
The board's recognition of staff members included biographical and career highlights read into the record; the transcript records both the honors and the scheduled reception following the meeting.
