Recreation fund posts rollover and camps near capacity, committee forwards budget

The budget committee unanimously moved on June 9 to forward the recreation fund budget to the full city council after staff reported positive aggregated results and program updates.
Director Thompson told the committee the recreation accounts produced about $187,000 that will roll into the Recreation Revenue Fund for FY26, and staff estimate a roughly $205,000 rollover for FY27. "We will have about a 187,000 that will go into that that will roll over into the Recreation Revenue Fund," Thompson said.
Summer camps and staffing: Thompson said summer camp sign-ups were nearly full with 35 openings remaining, mostly in kindergarten through fourth grade; the teen camp is full and operating with a wait list. Lifeguard training was scheduled to start the week after the meeting and parking attendants will be on-site at pool and beach operations starting Monday.
Motion and next steps: The committee moved and voted unanimously to forward the recreation fund to council. The item will appear on the council agenda for final consideration.
