The Monroe Board of Education voted unanimously to ratify a tentative successor collective bargaining agreement with the teachers union covering July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2029. The motion also delegates authority to the board chair to execute the final contract and directs the chair to coordinate with the board’s attorney to ensure compliance with the Teacher Negotiations Act.
The chair opened the new-business item after the board returned from executive session and asked for a motion to ratify the agreement. Jerry (board member) thanked the union and the bargaining team for working in good faith; Superintendent Joe Kobza also thanked negotiators and Rebecca from the Board of Finance for their roles during late negotiations.
Board members made no public amendment to the tentative agreement during the session. The board recorded the motion as unanimous and the chair was authorized to complete the final paperwork once counsel confirms legal requirements have been met.
