Board approves SCADA amendment, bids and emergency CIP spending for treatment-facility repairs

The Board of Public Works approved a set of procurement and infrastructure actions on June 23, including an amendment to the engineering contract for SCADA Phase 2, multiple annual bid awards and emergency capital spending to repair damage to a water treatment facility.
Tim corrected a previously reported contract figure and asked the board to amend the SCADA Phase 2 contract to a total of $151,000, noting the work is fully funded by the capital improvement article. The board approved the amendment after a motion by Mr. Gier.
Staff presented FY2027 annual bid tabulations for highway and water materials. Recommended low bidders included Dennison Lubricants (lubricants), Superior Plus Energy Services (propane), GBK Company (tree work), and others for paint, equipment rental, gravel and water-service materials; the board voted to accept the low bidders as presented.
Tim also requested permission to use $49,998 from the water enterprise emergency CIP to remediate storm-related damage at the 299 Chase Road water treatment facility, including replacement of an underground transformer. The board approved the CIP use and discussed adding surge suppression measures to reduce future risk.
Board members asked staff to consider surge suppression and other steps to avoid repeated electronic damage and to coordinate procurement documentation for select-board briefings as needed.
