Council approves multiple appointments and reappointments, rescinds a junk‑dealer license

During the personnel portion, the council approved reappointments and referrals: Pamela McNair and Karen Thompson were referred to personnel committee for review for the Commission on Disabilities; Deborah McManus and Lindseay Jar were reappointed to the Commission on Disabilities (three‑year terms); Stephanie Faria, Adrien Gilbert and Kathleen Newton were reappointed to the Historical Commission; and Paul Gould was reappointed to the Fort Meadow Commission. Councilors offered brief comments thanking reappointees for their service.
At the start of the meeting the council also heard from two volunteers — Raymond (reappointment) and Judy — who described long records of volunteering and work with the food pantry and senior programs. The council voted to approve both appointments to the Council on Aging.
On licensing, the council moved to rescind the junk dealer/secondhand dealer license issued to EcoATM at 240 East Main Street; the motion was made, seconded and approved by a recorded vote.
Other items were referred to committee: the mayor’s appointment of Jeffrey Goen as fire chief was referred to the personnel committee for review (the council earlier filed his 60‑day interim appointment), and multiple other committee referrals were made for planning and public‑services reviews.
