Essex elementary: enrollment letter awaited before feasibility study move

The Manchester Essex Regional superintendent reported on Aug. 6 that work on the Essex elementary building project is progressing but not yet visible; the district is awaiting an enrollment letter and a final report needed for the School Building Committee (SBC) meeting on Aug. 21. If the SBC accepts the enrollment report and letter, the district will enter a multi-year feasibility study and assemble the project team, the superintendent said.
Staff said the enrollment letter will document whether the building could accommodate all students and noted that the district will include options in the materials for SBC consideration, such as a plan to keep pre-K–2 in Essex and move grades 4–5 to another site. The superintendent said the operation-and-maintenance report remains in progress and is expected to be completed in the next week or two.
Committee members were invited to attend the Aug. 21 SBC meeting (online or in person) to review the materials; no formal feasibility vote occurred at the Aug. 6 meeting. The superintendent described the next procedural step as SBC acceptance of the enrollment report before the district can advance to formal feasibility planning.
