Ridgewood Water seeks engineering and solar studies, closes two projects and approves customer refund

At the June 24 meeting the council heard five Ridgewood Water agenda items presented by deputy director Bill Burwas and manager Keith.

Bill described a recommended professional-services contract to Circular Water Solutions for engineering support on projects such as sizing the Glenn Avenue water main and the West Glenn booster station; the contract is described as not to exceed $40,000.

Council also discussed hiring Gable Associates to evaluate remote solar-field opportunities that could provide partial credit on Ridgewood Water’s electric bills. Burwas said the overall not-to-exceed figure is $45,000 with an initial ask of $10,000 to begin procurement and vendor vetting.

Staff reported final acceptance and authorization of final payments for two capital projects: the ravine PA treatment facility with a final project cost reported around $3.9 million (below the original contract amount) and the West Glenn booster station (final cost reported during presentation; landscaping and screening were noted as pending). Burwas said the West Glenn booster station is operational and that finish landscaping and screening will be completed under the included estimate.

The water utility also sought authorization to credit a customer for an overpayment of $4,676.60; staff said the payment had been vetted and documentation supports the refund.

What happens next: Council did not record final vote text in the transcript for each individual water item during the work session narrative; staff will proceed with contracting and closeout tasks. Council members asked staff to follow up on landscaping details for the booster station aesthetics.
