Westbrook committee approves $17,900 for Old Mail Trail engineering design

The Westbrook Coastal Resiliency Implementation Committee voted to fund preliminary engineering for Old Mail Trail at its April 14 meeting, approving $17,900 to Weston & Sampson for a survey, basic design and stamped plans.
John Riggio presented the proposal, saying the work would cover design of 325 feet of 15-inch reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) from the existing outlet pipe to the end of Elm Street to alleviate flooding and ponding. Riggio moved to approve the $17,900 estimate; Marilyn Ozols seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
Committee members noted the design package will enable the town to put the project out to bid once the survey and stamped plans are complete. The item was previously discussed at the March meeting and was advanced after a field walk with Weston & Sampson staff.
