Holbrook outlines year-three strategic-plan progress and new course options

Superintendent Julie Hamilton presented the Holbrook School Committee with a year-three update on the district strategic and action plan on Oct. 17. The report highlighted curriculum, program expansion, staffing roles and safety measures intended to support post-secondary readiness and equitable access.
Hamilton said the district added dual-credit marine biology and financial-literacy courses through the South Shore Early College consortium and is working with the One Goal program to provide post-secondary planning supports at the middle-high school. The plan emphasizes Tier 1 instructional strategies in professional development, continued vertical-alignment work, and the PLC cycle for data-driven instruction.
Objective 2 updates included piloting entrance and exit criteria for special-education programs, expanding progress-monitoring tools such as RAVE-O, and refining MTSS protocols and co-teaching to strengthen inclusion and supports for English learners.
Under objectives addressing climate, culture and safety, Hamilton reported updates to PBIS, calming corners for younger grades, clearer job descriptions and expanded communication through the Talking Points platform for families. The district also plans safety drills and continued collaboration with Holbrook Police and Fire, and is pursuing grant funding for ALICE training. The committee received the update; specific policy or funding votes were not held on these items at the meeting.
