Regional School District 08 reports $1.057 million revised net favorable position for FY24–25, approves transfers

Administration explained drivers including higher-than-expected special-education costs and private tuition offsets from incoming students; the district also received slightly more E‑rate funding than anticipated.
The board approved year-end transfers in the amount of $519,870.84 by voice vote. Administration said approximately $417,042 of available funds are projected to be returned as credit offsets to the member towns in the 2026–27 budget process. The capital-improvement fund showed $90,404 uncommitted, and there was an uncommitted balance of $48,531 in a general-education reserve related to field repairs that the board previously chose to allocate toward the track project.
Why it matters: the unaudited closing position and approved transfers affect available unallocated personnel funds, capital reserves and the amount expected to be credited back to the member towns in the next budget cycle. Auditors will finalize and may adjust the unaudited numbers during the formal audit process in October.
