Board approves consent items, school-lunch signatory, softball trip and a new community-service option

Rocky Hill ' The Rocky Hill Board of Education approved several routine and programmatic items during its Oct. 16 meeting.

Varsity softball trip: The board approved an out-of-state, overnight varsity softball trip to Orlando, Fla., planned for April 13-17, 2026. Coach Mattie Darita and Athletic Director Dan Trudeau described planned league games, scrimmages and fundraising to offset family costs; three coaches will attend.
Community-service requirement change: The board voted to give students two options for completing graduation community-service requirements. Option A remains 50 hours of community service; Option B reduces the requirement to 40 hours combined with two job-shadow experiences (in-house or approved off-site job-shadowing through the career center). The motion to approve the new option was moved by Miss Tucker and seconded by Miss Manella.
