Coolidge council approves RWD grant contract, $11,030 invoice and community events

The Coolidge City Council on Feb. 10, 2026 approved an RWD grant contract, authorized payment of a $11,030 invoice to Harley’s Truck and Trailers charged to that grant, and approved two community events and a mayoral reading proclamation.
Mayor Elizabeth Leger called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and City Manager Lonnie Adamson provided the City Manager's report and distributed materials to the council. Mike Stephenson, Thomas County manager, addressed the council and discussed the "FLOST Sale Tax," although no formal action on that subject was recorded in the minutes.
Police Chief Mark Hickman briefed the council on department activity, reporting five tickets and 14 stops and stating that reports to the FBI, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Immigration were up to date. Interim Public Works Supervisor William Glass II reported that crews fixed three water-main leaks, completed six 811 locates and closed out 12 work orders.
On calendar and community items, the council unanimously approved the Recreation Department's plan for Easter Day Festivities on March 28, 2026 at Recreation Park, scheduled 10 a.m.–2 p.m. and moved by Monica Harper with Melissa Johnson seconding. The council also approved a Mayor's Club Reading proclamation and designated March 2 as Mayor's Reading Club Day at City Hall from 4:15–5 p.m.
In New Business the council approved an RWD Grant Contract (motion by W.C. Smith; second by Monica Harper) and separately authorized payment of an invoice from Harley’s Truck and Trailers for $11,030 to be charged to the RWD grant (motion by Melissa Johnson; second by Monica Harper). Both motions passed unanimously. The minutes were amended repeatedly to note Councilwoman Tonia Gentry's absence; the transcript records that no vote was submitted on her behalf.
