The presenter said the tool now opens to a dedicated landing page with a unique URL and a dynamic map that replaces a prior static image; users can click the map to navigate directly to community profiles and select the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) region to see which communities are included and where the region ends.
The presenter emphasized changes to how numbers are displayed and exported: hovering over charts now shows exact counts in a tooltip, and a new "view data" button opens a cross-tab table for that specific chart. "You can now click this view data button, which will bring up the data table, the cross tab table for that specific chart," the presenter said, noting the table includes a copy-to-clipboard option and a CSV download for the filtered chart data.
For users who want every statistic for a community, the presenter said a "download all data" button will export an Excel workbook with separate tabs for each profile tab and each visualization's cross-tab. "You can now click this download all data button and that will download an Excel workbook with different tabs for each of the tabs you see here and for each of the visualizations contained," the presenter said.
The presenter said the site now keeps source years in sync with the data being pulled so year labels no longer require manual updates, a change described as improving "trust in the data provenance and the data sourcing." The presenter also noted the open-data source pages now support JSON and GeoJSON downloads.
To surface errors and requests, the presenter said the tool includes a new data feedback form powered by Airtable so users can request missing datasets or report problems and indicate by when they need a fix. There is also a separate website feedback form for general suggestions or bug reports.
The presenter closed by thanking listeners and inviting continued input on improvements to the Data Common community profiles tool.
