Brandon Stewart lauds spring athletes; West Geauga celebrates All-State and state qualifiers

Athletic director Brandon Stewart told the West Geauga board the district’s spring teams “lived up to the hype,” detailing several accomplishments across softball, baseball and track.
Stewart said the softball team finished as regional runners-up and posted 22 wins; two players, Laili Percassi and Deonna Malone, were named All‑State. The baseball team won 17 varsity games, with Tyler Fink cited as the CVC MVP and receiving All‑State consideration. Stewart also recognized boys track qualifiers Ian and Mason — Ian finished second in the state mile — and noted Cara Deister qualified in four events for girls track.
"They lived up to the hype and then some this spring," Stewart said, praising coaches, transportation and maintenance staff for accommodating rescheduling and heavy field use. He told the board the district will recognize teams at summer events and at the Wolverine Kickoff Classic on Aug. 7.
Board members offered applause and thanks to Stewart and the student-athletes.
