Deep River EDC approves three months of minutes, hears updates on Business Guild, website and RiverCog training

The Deep River Economic Development Commission met on Feb. 17, 2026, and unanimously approved minutes for November, December and January, the minutes show. Jeremy Chase submitted the minutes.
The meeting matters centered on a handful of local development topics important to downtown business activity and upcoming events. Commissioners reviewed a reorganization of the local merchants group, ongoing website work tied to an event on Feb. 21, traffic coordination, and a proposal to use RiverCog on-call economic development services and training.
Christian Moldando of the Valley Courier attended the meeting and asked for any updates on the Mt. St. John property; the commission recorded that no new information was available on that parcel.
Members discussed 12 Bridge Street, focusing on parking and potential uses for the available space, and considered using the former Nest location as a popup retail opportunity. The minutes note that the Merchants Steering Committee has reorganized and is now called the Deep River Business Guild; the guild is planning monthly meetings and intends to invite the new resident state trooper to engage with local businesses.
Matthew Resnisky, a commission member, reported on traffic matters and said he had a meeting scheduled the following day with the traffic committee to follow up on circulation issues affecting the downtown area. Commissioners also reviewed Main Street priorities including banners, public-art murals and fundraising options to support those projects.
The commission discussed ongoing work on the town website and the need to finalize certain functionality before an event on the 21st; the minutes do not specify the event beyond the date. The Winter Carnival item had no update. Members placed the 'Business of the Month' feature on pause because of time constraints and discussed persistent difficulty attaining a quorum and the need to improve attendance.
Under new business the commission discussed RiverCog’s EDC on-call economic development services and an EDC development training series with Dale Coop, which the minutes list for future consideration. The meeting was adjourned at 7:21 p.m.; the next meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 16, 2026.
